This. It was a note I gave to my husband on a day

This. It was a note I gave to my husband on a day that didn't go as planned. It was simply words on a card to remind him of his gifts, his value, and God's amazing plan even when we don't see it in the moment.

Funny thing. A couple of days later my husband gave the same card back to me to remind me of those very things. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of #Truth or have others remind us when we forget.

"Then we’ll be like all the other nations: our king will judge us, go out before us, and fight our battles.” (1 Samuel 8:20)

The Israelites wanted a king because it's what everyone else was doing. It looked easier than just following God, plus they could see a king and surely he would fight for them and win.

Before we give those Israelites a hard time for wanting an earthly king instead of the Living God, we might want to check ourselves. What are we putting our trust in? What (or who) are we grounding our hope in? Is it a spouse, a job, a circumstance, our own abilities?

As much as we hate to admit it, our reliance shifts sometimes in a moment from the Living God to something else because it's tangible, comfortable, or easy. Praying we skip tangible, comfortable, and easy today and land instead in the place of hope, power, and the hand of a loving God.

Monsoon season has come to the #homeofthemorningcalm . It's not raining today but I think I'd be dryer after my run if it was. Only 76 degrees this morning at 0530. I should be thankful. We all know this winter I'm not going out there when it's 10 degrees.

💪Either way works as long as it gets done.
