Woke up this morning in Texas. That big sky always breathes hope and peace into my soul, even after a rain. Grateful to Jesus for our little piece of this place where we can rest.

To my two favorite Veterans...so grateful for your service and sacrifice. Super proud to claim you as family.

**Someday @smokesignalshifter (Kyle Yates) will gain "veteran status" but for now he continues to answer the call (sometimes lots of calls...haha).

An update on us...Jesus is still here (see previou

An update on us...Jesus is still here (see previous post). God has been super gracious. We've returned home with just shutter damaged and some water in our downstairs storage. We are so very blessed. Please continue to pray for our area and many others as they recover from this hurricane season.

In the middle of all of this, Evon and I made a trip to Texas (see traffic picture leaving Florida...at 4am) to see our girl for homecoming. It was fun to see her in her element. Also fun to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our school alma mater.

It's been an adventure these last few weeks with two hurricanes, a visit from Evon's friend (who ended up on a road trip to Texas), and @plantingroots1 staff retreat, and the homecoming trip to Texas. We're glad to be home and grateful for a God who has walked with us in both the challenging moments and celebrations.

Just an update: Kyle is safe and has power/water where he is. They will know more about base hopefully later today. They think it faired better than expected. So grateful for your prayers. ❤️ Thank you, Jesus.

With the hurricane coming in, Kyle was the last on

With the hurricane coming in, Kyle was the last one out of the house as we left the base. He prayed over our home and then said he left it in Jesus' hands. Below is the pic.

This pic is a good reminder as the storm makes landfall today that we serve a God that is bigger than it all. Much like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we know what God can do, but even if he doesn't we still believe and trust in the One who loves us and is faithful to us.

It's been an adventurous introduction to Florida f

It's been an adventurous introduction to Florida for sure. I would love for yall to pray for our new community here. I know there are many people struggling today from the recent hurricane, as are many in Tampa Bay. Please pray for protection of life and property. For us, our military base and home are right where the 3 is on the map.

Kyle is in Orlando riding it out so he can get back in ASAP to help get the base back up and running. Evon and I are headed to Texas. Thank you for lifting up our family and community.

It's been a busy summer. I've updated my favorite

It's been a busy summer. I've updated my favorite project - it's all of our military adventures. The blue area are the duty stations we did on our own and the red are the duty stations we've done together. It's surely been an adventure.

We left Carlisle, PA and moved to Tampa, FL. Kyle also graduated War College and took command of a new unit, we went on another visit to Williamsburg, VA, Kyle and I attended a couple of balls, Kyle jumped out of a couple of airplanes, the younger kid got a driver's license and the older was dropped off at college. Adventure is a good word for it all - one only God could design....and I wouldn't trade a minute of it.
