I have thought about and talked about legacy a lot these days. I think we all wonder how people will remember us. Did we love? Did we share? Did we help?
I think we also get overwhelmed sometimes and wonder how we can make a difference when there is so much need around us.
I pray about this frequently. How do I determine what to do? How do I make sure my heart and my focus is in the right place? Who am I following?
Legacy – I know a few people who have left an indelible impact on my life – not because they had multiple degrees or lots of money or any “special” gift, but because they had learned how to love and to follow.
My heart these days is to see what God is doing around me and how He wants me to be involved. He has made us all different but He has a place for all of us. It takes all of us doing what He called us to do to make the complete and beautiful picture of the painting God has designed. It is awesome when it all comes together.
In talks I have done recently, I have asked people to share one word that they would like people to use to define the legacy they leave and then to tie it to a Scripture that God has placed on their heart or one that has been a favorite that God has used for years.
So for this week’s giveaway I am asking that of you. What is the one word you would use to describe the legacy you would like to leave and what verse has God brought to you recently or through a lifetime that ties in? please share! I can’t wait to hear!
Mine? Adventure – John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL.”
The prize? Max Lucado’s book “Outlive Your Life.”
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, April 16 at midnight. Can’t wait to see what legacy you plan to leave!

Randi Akers says
Go – Psalm 96:3 “Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among ALL people!”
Kori says
Randi – Go is awesome. Also love the verse. That would be an amazing legacy. To leave behind such a heart for people – now that would rock.
Anne LeGare says
Treasure!
In 2 Tim 1:14, Paul told Timothy to guard the treasure of the Holy Spirit! Proverbs 21:20 says that treasure is in the home of the wise. Jesus taught about the treasure of heaven for the believer, and treasure already here in the believer’s heart! Mary treasured the promises of God in her heart. I want all the good treasure that scripture talks about and promises to be what I leave for my family. It’s a legacy already entrusted to me.
Kori says
Anne – No one has used the word treasure before, but I love it!! What a wonderful legacy to leave – I had never thought about it that way! So glad you shared.
Lou says
Wisdom: Ephesians 5:15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Kori says
Redeeming the time – love that Lou! So glad you shared!
Melissa Kraus says
Grace – 1 Corinthians 15:10 “But by the grace of God I am what I am; and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
What a wonderful opportunity we have to live a life of grace and to show a life of grace to others. Grace: favor, mercy, beauty.
Kori says
Melissa – I am personally a huge fan of grace. So awesome to have that as our testimony of who God is! The grace of God – awesome!
